Welcome! I’m delighted that you stopped by! I’m excited to be teaching three new classes and one encore class for the ANG Seminar in Columbus, Ohio October 1-8, 2010. On Monday and Tuesday, October 4 and 5, I’ll be teaching a super notebook class Experimenting with Metal Threads. This is a great time to learn about those glorious and glitzy metals we use on canvas. Notebook sized samples will give you the opportunity to experiment with these various metals. Those samples will also serve as the basis for a wonderful reference. Thursday and Friday, October 7 and 8, I’ll be teaching a wonderful new design By Any Name. This beautiful rose can be stitched in your choice of pink or coral. Enhancing the silken petals are gold leaves outlined in gold bullion and painted in class with metallic pigment marker. Backing, and grounding, the flower are three sections of pattern which are bordered by pearl purl couched in a contemporary approach. This is a fun class just loaded with learning potential. On Wednesday, October 6, I’ll be teaching two, half day classes. That morning I’ll teach an overview of basics about design. In the afternoon, our class will be Color Words, an encore of the very popular overview of basic color for needleworkers. Please stay awhile and allow me to share some of my needlework with you. The links to the left will take you quickly to various areas of the site. But before you go exploring, please let me tell you a bit about me and my embroidery. I’ve been teaching across the US and internationally for over 25 years. Although I continue to study all forms of embroidery, the classes I teach focus on silk and metal threads on canvas. I blend various techniques, stitched in silk or metal threads, in my canvas creations. So you’ll find that my designs don’t have a strong inclination toward any one theme. I’ve developed a reputation for writing excellent and complete project instructions. I do a lot of teaching and a lot of judging. And I love doing both! I also love writing about embroidery. I've had a column in one needlework magazine or another since 1985 and still do today, plus I've written seven books which quickly became needle work classics. Five of those books are still in print and described under Sandy's Books. On this site you’ll find some of my retired class project instructions for sale, as well as my books. My current teaching portfolio is here for those who are interested in arranging a class. There’s also a fun section showing what I did before embroidery entered my life. You might be surprised! Again, thank you for coming. Enjoy! |
