Iridescent Breeze

Scroll down to see large picture

Black Congress cloth creates a strong contrast with the gold metallics and bright silk colors of the flowers and leaves on this magnificent fan. Stitchers will select values of violet, rose, or blue for the flowers. Behind the flowers is an area of gold iridescent pigment powder, which heightens the attraction.

Learn Sandy's easy way to create depth and dimension as you use your needle and silks to create the glorious flowers. An in-depth study in realistic shading, Iridescent Breeze also employs enhancement techniques. Stitching time will be allotted in class for experimentation, to practice the shading methods, and to work with the powdered pigment with the help of the instructor.

In addition to Sandy's approach to realistic shading and how easy it is to do, we'll also learn how to do bullion chipping, the use of a pigment marker, how to apply powdered pigment to canvas, contemporary couching of metallics, using wider trims, traditional and contemporary couching of metallics, a diminishing blackwork pattern. The instruction booklet contains "work-in-progress" photos that make completing the project easy.
