Echoes of Autumn

Scroll down to see large picture

Pumpkins, apples, pear, and corn. All symbols of the glory that is autumn. Enhance those symbols with gold metallic gauze contrasting with an area of painted canvas, and you have a spectacular composition!

Learn Sandy's easy way to create depth and dimension as you use your needle and silks to create the autumnal bounty. We’ll also work with directional shading. Stitching time will be allotted in class for experimentation and to practice the methods with the help of the instructor, and canvas painting will be done in class.

In addition to Sandy's approach to realistic and directional shading and how easy they are to do effectively, we'll learn how to use a pigment marker to color and enhance sections of a canvas, a touch of beading, creating perspective with carefully placed shadows, using unusual materials on canvas, applying a metallic gauze, contemporary couching of bullion, and so much more. The instruction booklet contains "work-in-progress" photos which make completing the project easy. Basic color theory as it applies to depth perception and shading will also be discussed.
