Spring Luminescence

Scroll down to see large picture

Early flowers welcome the sun on a spring day, their petals still glistening with bits of snow from the night before. Among the newly green leaves, a tiny creature works his way upward. Colors of the flowers are tints and shades that echo the color of the ground Congress cloth, either light blue or rose.

Sandy has adapted her easy way to create depth and dimension by realistic shading to metallic braids. Although it's an in-depth study in realistic shading, Spring Luminescence also uses directional and enhancement techniques to give credence to the flowers and leaves. Stitching time will be allotted in class for experimentation and to practice the methods with the help of the instructor.

In addition to Sandy’s brand new approach to metallic realistic shading and how easy it is to do, we’ll also learn directional shading, and a bit of goldwork which forms the tiny creature working his way up a leaf. The instruction booklet contains "work-in-progress" photos that make completing the project easy. Basic color theory, as it applies to depth perception and shading, will also be discussed.
